The Sunshine Club
In groups of six or seven, patients now have the possibility to make ornaments, flower arrangements, or other crafts on the patio. The program is called “The Sunshine Club” and is conducted by a staff member and a nursing student or volunteer. “Our patients love being outside,” remarks Dorothy Cary, Program Aide and Activities Assistant at Alzheimer’s Family Center.
“Being in the sunshine definitely helps regulate their mood. The flower arrangement workshops are always a big hit, patients seem to love the different colors and textures. This initiative is a great addition to our programs. ”
